I have started taking fertility drugs and I have not had any luck I have been trying to get pregnant for a few years and have had no luck. The problem is that I will be turning 33 this December and also the major problem is my insurance does not cover anything. My husband and I have had to pay for everything out of pocket and I was wondering what was ovulation induction was. I do not have a period and with medicine I still have not had one.
Rachel – Are you working with your ob/gyn currently? Ovulation Induction works by taking a drug, such as clomiphene, to help mature 1 egg. This is usually then followed by an IUI where your husband’s sperm can be placed into your uterus. You can learn more at : http://www.shadygrovefertility.com/iui_program
If you have questions, call one of our new patient specialists at 1-888-761-1967 to learn more.
I am now taking metphormen and I take 850mg two times a day and I still have not have a period and I am getting frustrated. I feel as if I am wasting my time and money my insurance does not cover anything and I have to pay out of pocket.
Rachael – While not having your period can be very frustrating, it is actually one of the more simply things that a fertility specialist can fix. Metphormen often does it, but the right levels and combination with other meds, such as clomid, just need to be found for you. At 33 your are still in good shape and should have plenty of eggs (and time) to achieve pregnancy.

Does Shady groove Fertility have an affiliate or partnership hospital in Dubai where one can go for the treatment since the amount for treatment in the US is quite expensive. i am writing from Nigeria
Awelle – We do not currently have an affiliate in Dubai; however, one our Patient Liaisons will be in touch with you to discuss some options that may work for you. Best of luck on your fertility journey!
While TTC should I avoid hot tubs, hot baths or steam rooms? I have also heard that fertility acupuncture has great benefits when TTC, is this ok?
Belinda – For women, it is fine to use hot tubs, etc while TTC. Men on the other hand, should avoid those areas.
Acupuncture and massage are typically great for women TTC, just let them know you are trying to conceive or that you are doing fertility treatment (if applicable). At SGF we don’t have any statistical evidence that those natural remedies can “fix” or increase the odds of conception, but as a means to help with stress and comfort during fertility treatment it is recommended.
Good morning!
I am working with Karin Thayer and her fabulous team putting together the Fertility Planit expo this (quickly approaching!) January. For the past few months I’ve been working on the social media strategy and have been a great fan of your blog and your presence in the online fertility community.
Our FP expo is pulling together leaders and influencers like Dr Turek, the foremost men’s fertility expert, Dr Mark Surrey and Dr Richard Marrs. Additionally, we’ve got fabulous panelists including Sarah Brokaw, the author of Fortytude and many, many more.
We would love to work with you as a Community Partner on this effort. I think it would be a fantastic opportunity for us to promote and support one another. Would you consider adding our logo and a link to the Fertility Planit show on your site/blog? Or mention our conference in your blog?
We would be happy, always, to promote your blog and web presence via our twitter and facebook presence and add your link and logo to our Community Partners page which you can view here bit.ly/FPShowPartners.
Please also check out our show website at bit.ly/FPShow
The aim of our show is to help people feel good about themselves as they explore all options for having children and creating families. With that in mind we will be live streaming ALL of the content programs for FREE online as they’re happening — and we’ll be facilitating a live web chat to take questions from our online audience members everywhere in the world. We would be very grateful for your help in spreading the word so the widest possible audience may benefit from this information, support and inspiration.
We also welcome your suggestions on other moderators and speakers. It would be great to speak to you further about our show and any way that we might work together.
Thank you!
